AN ODE TO LUDHIANA OUR REJUVINATORS & BPS                                               Respected Chief Guest, Special Guests of Honour, Special Invitees and esteemed Delegates to this 62 nd AGM at the historic but today’s throbbing industrial city of Ludhiana, I extend my heartiest greetings to all of you ! My first landing at Ludhiana was after more than two months behind the tragic Partition of 1947 when a crowded train, from an Attock Refugee Camp in Pakistani Punjab, terminated here on the 24 th October, the historic day when it was decided by the then Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir, Sir Hari Singh, to sign the accession of J&K to India and just after two days, the Indian Army landed there to defend India from the Pakistani aggression. I was not aware of these developments at that time, the only thing I remember is that the sight of the hundreds, if not thousands, of dead corpses lying on the banks of Sutlej, was extremely shocking and they were spreading

Going for universal health coverage dt.24.11.2017

Karnataka does well to finalise the road map to ensure universal health coverage Karnataka’s move to amend the law governing private medical establishments is a logical step in its plan to provide universal health coverage in the State. There can be a debate on how individual aspects of medical services are best regulated, but laying down standards, containing treatment costs, mandating transparency and creating a binding charter that empowers patients are all basic components of healthcare reform. The State government has wisely dropped the clause on imprisonment for medical negligence in the final draft of the amendment Bill, avoiding a possible delay in broadening the scope of the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007. There is a need, of course, to ensure parity in services offered by government and private institutions, and end the neglect of public facilities especially in rural areas. The transition to universal health access, provided free at the point of del

The facility for granting revised pension is to be made by adjusting the requisite amount of contribution from PF account of EPFO to its the pension account. (PTI)

The facility for granting revised pension is to be made by adjusting the requisite amount of contribution from PF account of EPFO to its the pension account. (PTI) The EPFO on Thursday stated that it is neither legally liable nor financially capable to pay benefit in respect of persons from whom the corresponding “monthly remittances” have not been received. FE reported on Wednesday that organisation (EPFO) would suffer from unsustainable pension payouts if it failed to resist subscribers’ attempts to inflate their pension entitlements following a 2016 order of the Supreme Court. In a status note circulated to the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) members, which held its meeting here on Thursday, the EPFO said that the 2016 Supreme Court order on the pension issue was specific for the category of Provident Fund (PF) members who had already exercised the joint option both from the employer and employees for contribution on actual salary of the EPF scheme but was not given the option to
