PENSIONER’S WIDOW GETS RE-IMBURSEMENT OF MEDICAL CLAIM BY ORDERS OF CAT

          Mrs. Sunita Rani Malhotra, widow of deceased pensioner Shri Ved Pal Malhotra resident of house No. 35 GH-1, Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 5, Panchkula, submitted two medical bills for Rs.39,384 and Rs.3,27,261 totalling to Rs.3,66,645/- for indoor treatment of her husband for the period from 6.3.09 to 29.4.09 at Mukat Hospital & Heart Institute, Chandigarh and PGI, Chandigarh to Principal Controller of Defence Accounts, Western Command, Chandigarh (PCDA,WC) from where the deceased retired as Sr. Auditor. But the claims were turned down by the PCDA, WC vide letter no. AN/VI/1260/Med dated 30.6.2009.
          Aggrieved against the orders of the PCDA, WC. Chandigarh the widow approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Chandigarh Bench, Chandigarh by filing OA No.792/HR/2009 who after hearing all the parties allowed the medical claims vide order dated 7.7.2010 (later on modified vide orders dated 23.8.2010) and issued directions for making payment of the medical bills within a period of 3 months.
          When payment of the medical bills was not released to her she moved contempt of court proceedings by filing CoCP No. 31/11. During the contempt proceedings payment of medical bills was released to her in the 1st week of April, 2011. For additional information please contact:
